Description

This call is aimed at supporting international collaborative R&D and innovation projects in advanced manufacturing. It is part of the EUREKA SMART cluster, a thematic funding programme initiated by industry to promote international cooperation and strengthen European competitiveness. The call seeks to support consortia with actors along the entire value-chain for advanced manufacturing to develop new technologies, services or standards, with a focus on a competitive and resilient manufacturing industry and net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

Funding Amount 

• Swedish funding via Vinnova: up to SEK 5 million per project for the Swedish consortium.
• Funding rate for Swedish participants:
  • SMEs can receive up to 50% of eligible costs;
  • Large companies up to 30%;
  • Research organisations/universities up to 100%.

Submission Deadlines

• Opening date: 12 September 2025 for applications to the Swedish national portion.
• The project outline (PO) submission: 23 September 2025.
• Last application date for Swedish national application (matching international call): 22 January 2026 at 11:00 CET.
• The full project proposal international deadline (for SMART): 27 April 2026.
• Decision for Swedish national funding: 9 November 2026.

Submission Conditions

• The project consortium must consist of at least two independent organisations from at least two EUREKA member countries (participating in SMART).
• The Swedish consortium applying for national funding must include at least one Swedish SME.
• At least 60 % of the total work effort in the consortium must be carried out by companies.
• Swedish cost eligibility: only Swedish legal entities (or foreign organisations with branch in Sweden) may apply to Vinnova; the costs must be incurred in Sweden and linked to the Swedish entity’s operations.
• State aid rules apply: For companies engaged in economic activity, the support must meet the requirements under GBER (EU General Block Exemption Regulation) Article 25 (industrial research).

Eligible Types of Businesses 

• Swedish companies: SMEs and large companies are eligible to receive funding (via Vinnova) as part of the Swedish consortium. (SMEs eligible up to 50% of costs; large companies up to 30%).
• Swedish research organisations/universities/universities of applied sciences: eligible and may receive up to 100% of their eligible costs (non-economic actors).
• The international consortium must include companies; universities/research institutions may participate, but the strong industrial involvement is required (companies must do at least 60% of work).
