The 11th Call for Proposals for Joint Research and Development (R&D) Projects between Germany and France invites project applications until November 5th, 2024. The initiative, led by Bpifrance and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), supports collaborative R&D projects aimed at developing innovative products, processes, or technical services with high market potential and sustainable solutions.
Eligible participants from Germany and France will finance their project costs through their respective national funding schemes: ZIM (Germany) and Bpifrance Aide à l’Innovation (France). Project partners must include at least one company from each country, with the involvement of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Research institutes and other companies can participate as additional partners or subcontractors.
Key project requirements include:
- Development of new products, services, or processes with commercial potential.
- Collaborative efforts offering clear benefits from cooperation, such as increased innovation and market reach.
- Balanced contributions from both countries, with project durations not exceeding three years.
The application process involves submitting a Proposal Application Form and a draft Consortium Agreement that defines the collaboration terms, including intellectual property rights and commercialization. French and German partners must also submit national funding applications through Bpifrance and ZIM, respectively.
The call encourages early consultation with the relevant national agencies for support during the application process. Bpifrance and AiF Projekt GmbH will oversee the technical evaluation and implementation phases, ensuring project alignment with national laws and funding guidelines.

Expected Outcome
Development of innovative products, processes, or technical services that have the potential to generate sustainable solutions with high market potential. These outcomes should lead to the commercialization of new products, services, or processes, contributing to both the domestic and global markets. Additionally, the projects should demonstrate a clear advantage and value from the French-German collaboration, such as increased innovation capability, access to R&D infrastructure, or new fields of application.
Scope
Bpifrance and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) intend to support joint French-German research and development projects (R&D projects) in order to develop innovative products, processes, or technical services in all technological and application areas. Funding will be available for R&D projects in which new products, technical services or processes will in subsequent steps generate sustainable solutions with high market potential.
In Germany, funding is provided through the Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM). In France, funding is provided through Bpifrance Aide à l’Innovation funding scheme. AiF Projekt GmbH, ZIM project management agency on behalf of the BMWK, and Bpifrance will
