This call seeks proposals to extend the lifetime of crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) modules and systems by addressing degradation issues and failure modes. Recognizing that PV systems are rapidly evolving with new technologies and materials, projects should identify failure modes in high-efficiency or novel design c-silicon modules, develop failure detection techniques, propose mitigation approaches, and perform outdoor field experiments to determine degradation rates. Different locations representing the European range of climates are to be considered for field experiments.
The initiative aims to increase module durability and reliability, improve resource efficiency and lifelong energy yield, and decrease the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE). This call implements the co-programmed European Partnership for Innovation in Photovoltaics (EUPI-PV) and supports the execution of the solar energy joint research and innovation agenda.
