IraSME Call: Austria

Description

Austria participates in the IraSME call through the FFG (Austrian Research Promotion Agency). The call supports transnational R&D cooperation projects between SMEs and, optionally, RTOs. The goal is to promote innovative products, processes, or services with strong market potential.

Scope

  • Collaborative projects involving at least two SMEs from different participating countries.
  • Focus on applied R&D, with defined technical risk and measurable outcomes.
  • Austrian consortia must include at least three companies, of which two must be SMEs from participating countries, and one must be Austrian.

Conditions

  • Duration: Minimum 1 year, maximum 3 years
  • Funding amount: maximum 500,000 EUR (Austrian project part)
  • Total eligible costs of at least EUR 100,000 (Austrian project part)
  • The Austrian consortium management must have a permanent establishment and/or branch in Austria.

Important Dates

  • Joint call launch: 2 June 2025
  • Optional feedback deadline: 13 August 2025
  • Submission deadline: 24 September 2025
  • Funding decisions: Expected by late January 2026

Eligible Types of Businesses

  • SMEs (mandatory for each participating country).
  • Large companies are allowed under Austrian rules (lower funding rates).
  • RTOs/universities can participate as subcontractors or partners but must follow FFG eligibility rules.

  • Development of market-oriented innovations.

  • Strengthened international ties between SMEs.

  • Better positioning of Austrian companies in global markets.
