IraSME Call: Turkey

Description

Turkey has been part of the IraSME network since 2019 and participates in two joint R&D funding calls annually. The 36th call (June 2 – September 24, 2025) supports transnational R&D projects between Turkish SMEs and those from other participating countries, encouraging collaboration in innovation and competitiveness.

Scope

  • Open-topic call supporting new or significantly improved products, processes, or technical services that go beyond the international state of the art.
  • Projects must involve significant technical risk and aim for R&D results at prototype level or better.
  • Minimum consortium: at least one SME from Turkey and one from another participating country
  • Industry‑academia cooperation is recommended. Participation of RTOs is strongly preferred in Turkish proposals.
  • Project duration: maximum of 3 years

Funding Amount

  • Project costs max. 2.5 million TL
  • Funding rates:
    • Research institutions - 100%,
    • SMEs - up to 75%
    • Large companies - up to 60% of project costs

Submission Deadlines

  • International application (IraSME form): 24 September 2025
  • National application to TÜBİTAK: 1 October 2025

Eligible Applicants

  • Turkish SMEs are the primary focus; projects may also include RTOs and other entities. 
  • Consortium structure must include:
    • ≥ 1 Turkish SME
    • ≥ 1 SME from another participating country
    • RTO involvement is strongly recommended, though SME‑only consortia are allowed
  • Budget distribution: At least 50% of total project budget must fund private-sector partners
  • Partners from non-participating countries may join but must secure their own funding separately

Expected Outcome

  • Development of market-ready or near-market innovations with commercial viability.
  • Clear demonstration of added value through international cooperation, with meaningful contributions from each partner country.
