With NATEC, we have successfully begun serial production of sustainable sodium-ion batteries for industrial use. We presented this innovation to the media during a press conference in Vienna on April 2.

AccuPower and our latest innovation, NATEC, are currently major topics in both domestic and international media. As the first company to achieve serial production of sodium-ion batteries for industrial applications, this marks a significant breakthrough in global battery technology. It exemplifies what AccuPower stands for: innovation and sustainability.
We introduced our new NATEC series at a fully attended press conference at the SO/ Vienna Hotel. The event featured a demonstration by the Robotics Team from TU Graz, showcasing potential applications to the press. Our leadership trio — CEO Moritz Minarik, COO Bettina Haberler, and CSO Manfred Zettl — presented the new NATEC series.
Sustainable Developments!
In summary, sodium-ion batteries are considered the future of electric energy, offering significant advantages over lithium-ion batteries. They do not require critical raw materials, are more fire-resistant, have up to four times the lifespan, and can be charged more quickly, making them up to 90% more sustainable.
CO₂ Emissions from Raw Material Extraction:
-
Extraction of 1 ton of lithium = 5.15 tons of CO₂
-
Extraction of 1 ton of cobalt = 30 tons of CO₂
-
Extraction of 1 ton of nickel = 80 tons of CO₂
-
Extraction of 1 ton of sodium = 60 kg of CO₂
The key innovation, achieved after more than a year of research, lies — among other factors — in the Battery Management System (BMS) we developed.
“Our high-tech battery developments are already in use worldwide across various industrial applications. Being able to launch serial production of sodium-ion batteries with NATEC is a significant milestone in sustainable industrial development.”
— Ing. Moritz Minarik – CEO AccuPower
“Sustainability begins with development and a continuous drive to find solutions. With NATEC, we can now bring sodium-ion batteries to serial production, significantly reducing dependence on rare and conflict-prone raw materials. We are pleased to contribute to a better environmental balance.”
— Bettina Haberler, MA – COO AccuPower
“We are very pleased to contribute to climate and environmental protection with our expertise in battery technology, offering the international industry new possibilities for using sustainable sodium-ion batteries. Technological innovation and sustainability are the cornerstones of our company.”
— Manfred Zettl – CSO AccuPower
