Efficient, cloud-native software stack for Quantum Key Distribution terminals

Result description

The exploitable result is a software layer which stands between the quantum hardware and IT systems in the Quantum Key Distribution terminals. Its role is to cryptographically and mathematically postprocess secret keys using low-density parity codes (LDPCs), perform privacy amplification, and then store the key in a key database and make it available to the users through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). It is designed and built to be flexible and scalable. In particular, it uses cloud-native solutions and efficient approach. The software was developed during the realization of the EIC Women in TechEU project as well as participation of levelQuantum in the NATO Defence Innovation for the North Atlantic (DIANA) programme. It will be a key component of the future Quantum Key Distribution terminals built by levelQuantum.

We specifically need / are looking for

Our startup is building a disruptive Quantum Key Distribution system which will offer device-independent security of information transfer and storage, which does not rely of security of any node of a distributed network. This is possible thanks to the new quantum entanglement distribution protocol we invented. To further develop, we need expertise in business development as well as funding, which will allow us to grow our company. We are looking for investors and business opportunities.

Current stage description

The software is already operational and realizes the main functions. levelQuantum is still developing the quantum hardware which will be connected to this software, therefore, its full potential in is yet to be shown. The software being the key result of the project will be tested by an independent Test Center in Fall 2024. This certification will allow us to boost the value of the solution.

Replicability

The software requires standard working envrironments, specified in its documentation. It can run in a cloud environment, and internally utilizes Open Source components (programming languages, libraries). Its operation can be verified with built-in test suite, which performs thourugh tests of its functions.
