The result consists in a robotic platform for the autonomous wiring of the electrical connection of industrial switchgear.
The robots start the operation by grasping the cables at the ends from a warehouse. Depending on the connection position, one robot is assigned as primary and move to perform the insertion of the connection inside the components. The second robot instead follows the primary while making the cable in tension to avoid the latter to get stacked in the switchgear.
A third arm operates a tool capable to open the spring-based mechanism or a screwdriver for opening and fixing the cables.
The operation are automatically generated from the product design. The planning of the trajectory is robot-agnostic and can be easily interfaced with any robot brand.
The proposed solution demonstrates the feasibility of this automation process at industrial scale, enabling both to have a fully monitored and repeatable quality control process and to save a significant amount of human work for this tedious and repetitive task.
