The input framework captures farm level information such as fertilizer, water and energy use and SOC sequestration to calculate net emissions. The data processor consists of the emissions calculator and the soil carbon calculator. For the demonstrator, the Cool Farm Tool is used as the emissions calculator. The SOC calculator uses AgriCircle’s precision sampling methodology based on a combination of remote sensing, machine learning and ground truthing to calculate the SOC for the fields. The carbon accounting module will implement standards agreed to by industry partners on ‘sharing’ of carbon allowances generated in the supply chain. At a later stage, an assurance API will involve a third-party accredited assessor who certifies the carbon allowances generated and can offer certificates. A payment module could then be integrated to allow purchasing parties to directly credit farmers for their sequestration efforts. The output dashboard depicts the emissions report, soil carbon sequestration report as well as a carbon allowances report, allowing users to view available allowances and bid for and purchase them.
