The neutron chamber is built to be transportable and shield all neutron produced within to protect users, plus it is used to termalize the neutron to enanche measurements capabilities. A conveyor is used to automatize the drum positioning and can be integrated in a supply chain.
The system is composed by:
- N.12 detection blocks equipped with 7 3He detectors each;
- N. 2 monitoring detectors;
- N.1 neutron generator [3];
- N.1 252Cf neutron source to be located for testing purposes;
- A rotating plate used for the motion of the drum during the measurement.
All the instruments are cabled to have all the read-out electronics and the power supplies outside the active zone to reduce to the minimum radiological problems.
