This platform enables analysis and responses for current and historic turbine data, while solving problems that existing solutions have: secure transfer (with external partners), timely transfer, ongoing access control, high computing power requirements, reliable notification of issues. IBM’s solution for degradation detection and failure prediction is deployed and maintained in a cloud environment and provides an out of the box solution.
This IBM Cloud based ecosystem consist of a platform for collection, storage and flow of monitoring data coming from wind farms. The platform provides secure interfaces to collect data with custom handlers to process incoming data, before storing them in noSQL or relational databases, based on how the data is used by the analytics models. The use of a message hub enables invocation of hosted analytics computations as the data arrives, and ensures the flow of the results into databases, or external systems. This ecosystem is scalable, costs are proportional to the actual data and compute usage and can be easily offered as a service. Applications in the IBM Cloud are assembled from a catalogue of native and portable services.
