Result description

The SWB is a prefabricated system composed of an insulating frame, highly efficient timber-frame window, photovoltaic modules, automated shading and a decentralized ventilation machine. Three main SWB configurations were identified based on a joint technical feasibility and performance-based assessment.A forth configuration has been defined and installed in he projects demo cases.

We specifically need / are looking for
  • The possibility to expand the clients area thanks to specific collaboration with other companies (let them produce the SWB under Eurofinestra directive) defining a NdA. The main reference clients are: engineers, architects and designer in general. Also, the General Contractors could be a possible target. 
  • The possibility to have strategic cooperation and partnership with big players that has capability to produce the SWB or some of its component with industrialized approach

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects

Current stage description
  • The most complicated SWB products (the one that integrate all the functionalities) is very closed to the market and minor optimization should be done.  
  • Several other SWB products are ready for the market (WB with trickle vent, with Ventilation machine, etc..) 
  • Components like PELLINI system could be also sell separately (30k control battery unit elements has been already sell till now).  
  • An evolution of the SWB concept is under development thanks to the participation of a H2020 project called Cultural-E 
  • Shared IP on SWB: The IP is shared between EuroFinestra and EURAC. A utility model filing is in process by Eurofinestra and EURAC. 
  • Smart Control Hub (ER4.1): Patent on the innovative shading system, the Copyright (shading control logics), and the potential NDA on the shading control logics (IP of Pellini +EURAC).

he SWB can integrate a set of different multifunctionalities from the energy production to air exchange systems and shading solutions Window block will simplify and speed up the design and installation phases, avoiding on site errors.  A single window block can improve the building performance, improve the internal comfort, and solve in one time all the issues of window hole, from design to installation. The SWB is suitable for the installation in the prefabricated elements such as prefabricated façade or modular element both for retrofit and new construction The SWB is not a fixed products but is an element that can be morphologically adapted to the different architectural and performance needs Focusing on Smart Control Hub The primary objective of this technology is to create a solar shading that is not only off-grid, and therefore independent from the electricity grid, but also that has an automation and a control system that is user-centred and independent of any IT infrastructure. The communication between actuator and Control Hub is performed through low radio frequencies in order to grant maximum covering. The accessibility of the user is granted both through user override using buttons on the actuators, near the window, and through an App connecting directly to the Control Hub.  The control hub may use an internet connection in order to update software and firmware of the actuators wirelessly, but may as well work offline, being the latter situation not a limit to reaching total functionality.
