The global market of nutraceuticals is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 7% in volume during 2021-2023. Astaomega’s process has been optimized for producing astaxanthin and omega-3 (EPA), simultaneously in a carbon negative process. Astaomega’s value proposition is built on 1) optimization of microalgae cultivation for the simultaneous production of food grade astaxanthin and omega-3; 2) the microalgal strain Nanochloropsis gaditana, ASTAOMEGA which patent application has been recently deposited. The proposed process makes no use of GMO and it is based on single stage culturing method, enabling the cutting costs and reduce the environmental impact in large-scale production. The developed technology (validated at TRL6) is expected to produce 500-900Kg per year of oil enriched in astaxanthin and EPA in a 60.000L volume plant. The main application sector identified is aquaculture and in a near future human nutrition.
