Automatic Multistage Filtration mechanism for fully-automated analytical instrumentation

This mechanism is responsible for automatically replacing all filters within the an analytical device (it was designed for the MariaBox device) before any new measurement. In this way, filter clogging is avoided. The automatic filter exchange is also used to avoid sample cross-contamination. This is one of the key novelties of the MariaBox system and it is the first time such a mechanism is applied in an analytical instrument. 

The device answers the need of the on-line analysers industry for a low-cost, compact, flexible and reliable automatic liquid sample filtering device.

Current stage description

The prototype is currently at TRL6-7. The mechanical design has been validating in real-world conditions. The next steps would be to perform a long-term demonstration and extended validation of the technology that would allow qualifying also the system, for a specific application.
