The affective computing offers an AI-based tool to detect the emotional status of people in a non-obtrusive way and provide adequate actions to change it or to reinforce motivation in case that emotions with a bad polarity are found.

We specifically need / are looking for

We are looking for the possibilities of exploitation of this tool:

–        In the case of HIB, we plan to leverage the knowledge derived from the implementation of the classifier of emotion based on visual features to extend the functionalities of our current solutions.

–        In the case of JSI, they plan to use this information to extend their current portfolio of research and help in technical expertise.

Also, we plan to jointly use this tool as an element for mutual collaboration in future research projects.

Current stage description

This model has been already integrated in the final prototype of WellCo and validated in real scenarios with elderly people in Italy, Denmark and Spain.

The next steps are the extension of the model to other languages and the improvement of the model, both in terms of accuracy and performance

Replicability

Emotional status is an independt module that coul be integrated in other architectures.

Value Proposition:

The model goes beyond the state of the art due to it enables to extract the emotional status of the user in a non-obtrusive way. In addition, to be more accurate, this model does not focus just on visual or audio features but it combines both of them to enable classifying emotions that could be difficult to identify in case just one aspect is considered, such as anger or happiness that could be easily mislabelled if just voice are considered due to both are usually identified with louder speak.
