HEFESTO has developed a light weight, cheap, aerospace compliant solution to protect plastic structural parts against thermal degradation in an event of fire. The invetion consists of a multilayer of material laminates which have demonstrated its effectiveness to withstand intense fire conditions, while preserving the temperature of the structures underneath at safe values so not lose mechanical strength below KDF specifications. The invention is also supported on thorough engineering design and assembling principles that assures the implementation in a variety of circumstances. For example, how to protect against fire zones like edges, joins or corners, or how to allow the implementation of metal fittings without jeopardizing the fireprofness.
