A Portable Field Test Kit for Examining Fish for Zoonotic Parasites

ParaFishControl have developed a portable testing kit that allows scientists or fish farmers to quickly check wild or farmed fish for the presence of zoonotic parasites in the field. This kit is easy to transport and use. The kit includes the materials and chemicals for artificial digestion and compression of fish tissue, tools for capturing, euthanizing, and analysing the fish, the ethical euthanizing techniques used by the kit, the method for checking for the presence of zoonotic parasites, metacercariae and nematode larva and the method for conserving any identified parasites for further inspection at the lab.
