Result description
Data privacy and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules constitute an important issue for grid optimisation. While the project stakeholders agree on the importance to strictly respect all data privacy rules, the respective demonstrators have shown that access to data and particularly smart metering data forms an essential input to grid constraint forecasts and flexibility procurement. Acquiring explicit and individual customer consent for metering data to be used for the DSO’s grid congestion management has been identified as an important hurdle in many of the project’s demonstrators. Rules for data privacy require a delicate balance between the customer expectations for privacy, a DSOs need for maximum security of its operations and the necessity of a flexibility approach to scale well and operate efficiently.
