Audioguide 3.0 aims a disruptive shift in the sector of guided visitor experiences. In the last decades we have seen the establishment of typical numeric Audioguides (“Audioguide 1.0”) as well as in the last 10 years its extension towards multimedia guiding using smartphones / tablets (“Audioguide 2.0”). Audioguide 3.0 is going to be the next step in shifting the market to significantly change and improve the way visitors in museums and elsewhere use technology to enrich their experience. It radically overcomes the flaws of former technologies and at the same time preserves the unique needs of state-of-the-art museum visiting experiences and interpretation. Audioguide 3.0 will enable automatic detection of exhibits which the visitor actually is looking at. It will provide contextual, multimodal interpretation content like audios as well as multimedia formats and interactivity via paired smartphones/tablets. This reduces user interaction to a minimum and increases visit experience to a maximum. The visit is transformed to a holistic experience allowing both knowledge transfer / interpretation and an undisturbed yet exciting museum visit.
