The Extended Vehicle concept (ExVe) has been proposed for the security and privacy needs for vehicle data access from third party servers. The ExVe server is an OEM server that provides vehicle data via a standardized interface, to either a neutral third-party service provider or directly to a third party. Vehicle data is provided only to third parties who have the necessary consumer consent. The two ISO standards 20077/78 (Extended Vehicle Design Methodology) and ISO 20078 (Extended Vehicle web-services interface) are currently developed in order to regulate vehicle data sharing to third parties. The approach in NeMo followed by the CRF/IBM Trustee solution is focused on the fulfilment of the EU “guiding principles” and on Data Privacy with its “double consent” approach. Renault as well as HONDA also adopted the solution to connect their backends with the Neutral Trustee server that in turn provides the access to vehicle data to the Hyper-Network. The off-board API is secured using https encryption and OAUTH authentication.
