Climate change simulations found the water discharges from the 13 rivers and water temperatures at all depth levels are increasing while dissolved oxygen concentrations decline. Wave model simulations showed significant increases in wave climate and in intensity of extreme wave events in the western Black Sea. Other simulations quantified flooding impacts affecting the Dniestr barrier beach and an intensification of surge levels and significant wave height for the climate change scenarios.
Climate change simulations have a significant impact on scientific research across a wide range of disciplines. These simulations enhance our understanding of the complex interactions within the earth’s climate system. These projections allow researchers to evaluate potential risks and vulnerabilities in coastal areas, especially for beach protection against erosion and coastal inundation, as well as designing offshore wind energy platforms.
