Result description
The eHMI is a surround perception system that will allow the HAV to identify the HRUs behaviour and to anticipate safety critical situations. It includes a sound interface and visual message-based lighting system. The system comprises module capable of displaying dynamic shapes or symbols using MiniLED technology, and a static projection lighting system as well as an AVAS for audio interaction with Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs).
The eHMI system enhances communication between the vehicles and its surrounding environment (this includes Human Road Users and human driving vehicles) by providing clear, customized visual and acoustic messages that convey vehicle intentions, improving safety, reducing accidents and adapting to factors as passenger age, size, physical condition and situational context, especially in autonomous driving scenarios
Addressing target audiences and expressing needs
- Grants and Subsidies
- Business partners – SMEs, Entrepreneurs, Large Corporations
- Expanding to more markets /finding new customers
Engagement with industry stakeholders: reach out to stakeholders interested in further developing or applying the technology (Automotive industry, including OEMs, Tier-1, and public transport operators, among others)
Follow-up research projects:
- Identify opportunities to build on the project results (e.g., further development and validation, system integration, etc.).
- Prepare applications for national and/or EU research funding to support further development.
- Public or private funding institutions
- Other Actors who can help us fulfil our market potential
- Research and Technology Organisations
R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
The eHMI is currently being demonstrated, it requires further development:
- Develop PoC to show development capabilities to potential Customers
- Preliminary Feasibility Study
- Passing from prototype top production
For further developing it, the following funding sources are envisioned:
- Public funding from regional, national and international projects
- Partner co-investment from internal R&D budgets
The eHMI is beeing integrated and tested in a passenger vehicle. It could be replicated in other type of vehicles (e.g.: buses or shuttles)
