Additional funding from private investors, public bodies, and ecosystem enablers is needed to scale, validate, and deploy the tool. This support will also enable new plugins and features, as well as the exploration of additional use cases in real environments and supply chains.

The SCDT tool is at TRL5, with real-time data synchronized in a functional Digital Twin prototype. We seek €1M–€2.5M to reach TRL7 by enabling evidence-based simulations for industrial policy decisions. Our goal is to tap high-growth Smart Manufacturing SaaS markets by integrating into EU data spaces and supporting EC decarbonization strategies.

The SCDT tool is designed as a service-based (SaaS-like) solution, where simulations are dynamically generated per user request and accessed via web interfaces. This architecture allows multiple users and supply chains to be supported simultaneously, enabling scalability across industries and use cases without significant infrastructure changes.

The SCDT tool is highly replicable due to its data-driven and modular architecture. It relies on standardized data inputs (e.g., factory descriptions, processes, material flows) that can be adapted to different industrial environments.

It supports varying levels of detail (granularity), allowing companies with different data maturity levels to adopt it. Additionally, its ability to simulate workflows of single factories, multiple factories, or entire supply chains makes it applicable across sectors and use cases.

The use of common technologies (e.g., JSON-based models, ROS, web-based visualization) further facilitates replication in new contexts.

The SCDT tool contributes to long-term sustainability by enabling data-driven decision-making and scenario testing before implementing changes in real operations. This reduces resource waste, improves efficiency, identifies bottlenecks in the production line or supply chain, and supports circular supply chain practices.

Its capability to integrate real-time and simulated data, including parameters such as material flows, energy consumption, and CO₂ emissions, allows companies to continuously monitor and optimise their operations toward more sustainable configurations.

From a business perspective, its service-based deployment, interoperability with other tools (e.g., optimisation tools (SCOPT and SCO) and sustainability assessment), and continuous upgradability ensure long-term viability and relevance.
