- Analysis of labelling information, particularly health and nutrition claims, contributes insights to the market analysis phase.
- The outputs of this data analysis then inform the ideation phase of product development. Rather than relying solely on unstructured creativity, teams are supported with evidence-based stimuli.
- Food data from branded, packaged products can guide decisions on ingredients, formulations, levels of processing, and potential nutrition-oriented marketing messages for consumer, establishing a strong foundation for the product development process.

The NPD framework has been co-developed in collaboration with the food industry and has already been tested on real-life products, demonstrating its practical applicability.
We invite more food producers, particularly SMEs, to adopt the Nutritious by Design framework and collaborate with the project’s research institutions to gain access to food data.
Built on flexible, standardised methodology and modular design, it can be integrated across product categories, companies of different sizes, and multiple markets without significant additional resources.
For partners and investors, this means the framework can deliver more value with fewer incremental inputs improving efficiency in product development, reducing reformulation costs, and strengthening unit economics over time. Rather than relying solely on unstructured ideation and trials, NPD is supported with data analysis.

Nutritious by design NPD process has standardised methodologies, allowing the framework to be consistently applied across different contexts.
