Integrated Motorcycle Airbag Safety System
This technology is an integrated motorcycle safety system designed to provide coordinated airbag protection for riders across different accident scenarios.
Unlike conventional wearable motorcycle airbag systems that primarily focus on protecting the rider after detecting a fall, this solution is designed as a motorcycle-integrated safety architecture combining multiple protection zones with intelligent accident detection and deployment control.
The system continuously monitors the motorcycle and its dynamic behavior through a network of sensors. When an abnormal event is detected, the electronic control unit (ECU) analyzes the available data to determine whether a critical accident is developing. Based on the characteristics and trajectory of the event, the system can determine which protection zone should be activated, when activation should occur, and how different protection zones should operate in coordination.
The architecture includes a lateral airbag system designed to provide protection during side-impact and lateral fall scenarios, as well as a central under-seat airbag concept designed for scenarios in which the rider is separated or ejected from the motorcycle. The central protection module is designed to remain associated with the rider through an attachment system, allowing the protection concept to address accident phases that may occur after rider separation from the motorcycle.
The technology has been developed with a modular architecture so that its main components and protection modules can be adapted to different motorcycle configurations and models.
The system combines:
– Multi-sensor accident detection
– Electronic control and decision-making through an ECU
– Coordinated deployment of multiple protection zones
– Lateral rider protection
– Central protection for rider-ejection scenarios
– Real-time analysis of motorcycle dynamics
– Modular architecture for different motorcycle platforms
– Design considerations for industrialization and mass production
The objective is to provide a more comprehensive and coordinated approach to motorcycle rider protection by combining accident detection, decision-making, and multiple airbag protection zones within a single integrated safety architecture.
The technology is available for further technical evaluation, industrial partnership, licensing, co-development, investment, or potential acquisition, depending on the requirements of the interested partn
