IraSME Call: Switzerland

Description

The IraSME network is a joint initiative by ministries and funding agencies supporting international R&D projects led by SMEs and research organisations. The 36th call, open from June 2 to September 24, 2025, allows SMEs and RTOs from Switzerland, Germany, and others to collaborate across borders on innovation projects.

Scope

  • Projects must focus on developing new or significantly improved products, processes, or technical services that exceed the current international state of the art, involving significant technical risk.
  • The approach is bottom-up, meaning there are no thematic restrictions, and innovation areas are chosen by the applicants.
  • Collaboration between at least two participating countries is mandatory; Swiss consortia must include one business entity from each partner country and one research entity (from any participating nation)

Funding Amount

  • Swiss partners are funded by Innosuisse: up to 70% of Swiss project costs, with a maximum of CHF 500,000 per Swiss partner
  • Funding rates by type:
    • Research institutions: 100%
    • SMEs and start-ups: up to 50% (Swiss start-ups that are not yet on the market and only work with foreign companies can receive up to 70%)
    • Large enterprises: up to 25%

Submission Deadlines

  • Optional feedback stage: by 13 August 2025 for non-binding pre-review
  • Final submission deadline: 24 September 2025

Eligible Applicants

  • Swiss entities: SMEs, start-ups, large enterprises, research institutions—all may be funded with varied rates
  • Mandatory consortium structure:
    • ≥ 1 Swiss business partner
    • ≥ 1 partner business from another participating country
    • ≥ 1 research organisation (Swiss or other)
  • SMEs must be defined per national guidelines; RTO participation optional but needs company-led majority workshare
  • Partners must come from the participating IraSME countries: Austria, Brazil, Czech Republic, Flanders (Belgium), Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Türkiye, Wallonia (Belgium)
  • Additional partners from other countries may join but cannot receive funding through IraSME

Expected Outcome

  • R&D results should be market-ready or near-market with clear market potential and commercial viability

  • Projects must demonstrate significant added value from international cooperation, with defined work packages and roles
