The "AI Ecosystems 2024: AI for Tech, AI for Green and AIM AT" funding call is handled by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK). The initiative AIM AT embedded in this tender is funded through grants from the Zukunft Österreich fund.
In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the most exciting and controversially discussed technology topics. While AI methods have been used in research, industry, and economics for decades, with the advent of generative models such as those found in OpenAI's ChatGPT or Mindverse (Large Language Models, Reinforcement Learning, Knowledge Graph), this technology has now reached the center of society. With easy accessibility and availability, it seems there are hardly any limits to creative endeavors and applications of AI.
The tender for AI Ecosystems 2024, endowed with €9.84 million, aims to utilize this potential and drive forward research and application of AI algorithms.
AI Ecosystems 2024 includes several focal points, each with different instruments:
- Edge AI: Flagship project (mandatory preliminary talks by 6.9.2024)
- Hybrid AI: Cooperative R&D projects / Exploratory projects
- AI for Green: Cooperative R&D projects
- AIM AT - AI for the protection of ecosystems and sustainable land use promotion: Cooperative R&D projects
- AI Hub Austria and Green AI: Research services
