This funding call focuses on preparing Europe for the post-exascale era in High-Performance Computing (HPC), marked by convergence with quantum computing and artificial intelligence. The objective is to create a roadmap that addresses future research challenges spanning applications, algorithms, software, hardware, and systems. The call targets collaborative efforts to establish a competitive European HPC ecosystem that merges HPC, Quantum, and AI technologies.
The initiative aims to analyze emerging research and innovation challenges and recommend actionable steps to advance European HPC capabilities. Key issues include mixed-precision computing, HPC as a service, real-time HPC, and the digital continuum encompassing HPC/AI/Quantum/Cloud/Edge convergence. The call emphasizes fostering collaboration among scientific and industrial stakeholders, including RIAG, INFRAG, ETP4HPC, DARE FPA, CoEs, and relevant European projects.
This Coordination and Support Action (CSA) will also engage with similar international efforts, ensuring Europe’s alignment with global advancements in HPC. With an indicative budget of 2.50 million € and a typical project duration of 36 months, the call aims to guide the EU's HPC initiatives toward leadership in the post-exascale landscape.
