This call aims to strengthen and establish a sustainable collaboration framework between the African Union and European Union on sustainable renewable energies. Building on the achievements of the LEAP-RE project, the initiative seeks to support the implementation of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda priority on Green Transition and the Global Gateway in Sub-Saharan Africa. Projects should analyze the impact of relevant EU-Africa research and innovation projects, accelerate the translation of innovation into real-life outputs, engage local communities, develop human and institutional capacities, and provide support to the AU-EU Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Partnership.
Activities will contribute to human and institutional capacity-building and turn the AU-EU Research and Innovation Partnership on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy into a long-term platform for collaboration. At least 40% of the beneficiaries must be established in African Union member states, and legal entities established in all member states of the African Union are eligible for EU funding.
