The LIFE program forms the basis for measures to promote environmental and climate protection by the European Union for the years 2021 to 2027. The program aims to establish eco-friendly, innovative products, processes, and services, as well as develop best practices and administrative policies. It bridges the gap between research and large-scale implementation.
The program is divided into four sub-programs:
- Nature and Biodiversity
- Circular Economy and Quality of Life
- Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
- Clean Energy Transition
Various project types are supported, including pilot projects, demonstration projects, and strategic integrated projects. The funding rates vary by sub-program, with up to 95% of eligible costs covered for projects in the Clean Energy Transition category. Applications are submitted based on annual calls for proposals.
