NWO invites researchers and partners to organise consortia that will set out to do innovative research and develop solutions for societal issues, while realising economic potential, to submit an application for a long-term programme. Long-term programmes aim towards impact throughout the course of the programme, as well as lasting beyond the funding period.
Purpose
By funding the research projects that are the scientific foundation of the long-term programmes, NWO facilitates the development of strategic consortia consisting of researchers, public and private partners, that will set out or continue their collaboration throughout this ten-year programme. Tne ten-year collaboration within the long-term programme is the starting point of a long-term, forceful and sustainable stimulus of innovation and the national development of a scientific field in the Netherlands. A long-term programme is initiated with the aim and structure to continue after the initial funding of this LTP.
Who can apply

Full, associate and assistant professors, lectors and other researchers with similar positions may act as main or co-applicants if they have a tenured position (and therefore have a paid employment contract for an indefinite period of time) or have a tenure track agreement. A proposal is written by a consortium in which besides the applicants co-funders are involved as well.
Participation of research organisations is maximised, research organisations are allowed to apply as main applicant twice.
