The Business Plan Competition Berlin-Brandenburg (BPW) is Germany's largest regional initiative supporting entrepreneurs and start-ups in developing viable business concepts. Established in 1995, BPW offers a wide range of free services, including seminars, workshops, individual consultations, and networking events, to guide participants from the initial idea to a fully-fledged business plan. The competition is a collaborative effort organized by the Investment Bank Berlin (IBB), the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg (ILB), and the Association of Business Associations in Berlin and Brandenburg (UVB). It is jointly supported by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy, and Public Enterprises of the State of Berlin and the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour, and Energy of the State of Brandenburg, with co-financing from the European Social Fund (ESF).

Additionally, businesses planning to develop new business fields or undergoing succession are encouraged to join. Participants can choose between developing a traditional business plan (BPW Plan) or utilizing the Business Model Canvas approach (BPW Canvas). The competition is structured into three phases, each focusing on different aspects of business development:

In each phase, participants submit their business concepts for evaluation, receive feedback from expert jurors, and have the opportunity to win prize money.
