The EUP AH&W Joint Transnational Call (JTC) 2026 is the second co-funded call under the European Partnership on Animal Health and Welfare (EUPAHW). The call supports international research projects aimed at improving animal health and welfare in Europe, particularly within livestock and aquaculture systems.

The programme brings together national and regional funding organisations from multiple countries, with additional support from the European Commission, to fund collaborative research addressing challenges related to animal health, disease prevention, and welfare.

The Fund for Scientific Research – FNRS (Belgium, Wallonia-Brussels Federation) participates in the call and funds Belgian partners through its PINT-MULTI international research project scheme.

Funding Amount

For researchers funded by F.R.S.–FNRS:

• Maximum funding per project: €300,000
• Project duration: up to 3 years

Eligible costs include:

• Personnel
• Equipment
• Operational costs (consumables, travel, other research expenses)

Additional FNRS rules:

• Personnel costs: capped at an average of €80,000 per year.
• Indirect costs:
  • Operating expenses: up to 1% within the granted budget.
  • Personnel overhead: up to 2% outside the granted budget.

FNRS is expected to fund one Belgian research team within this call.

Submission Deadlines

• Call opening: 26 January 2026
• International pre-proposal deadline: 30 March 2026 (12:00 CEST)
• FNRS administrative submission deadline (e-space): 6 April 2026 (14:00 CET)
• The call follows a two-stage evaluation process (pre-proposal and invited full proposal).

Eligible Types of Applicants

For FNRS funding, eligible applicants include researchers affiliated with institutions in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation who meet the eligibility rules of the FNRS PINT-MULTI programme.

Eligible researcher profiles include:

• Postdoctoral researchers (R2)
• Researchers with permanent research status (R3)
• Senior research positions (R4).

Applicants must be affiliated with eligible universities or research institutions recognised by FNRS.

Eligible Countries

Projects must involve international consortia from countries participating in the EUPAHW partnership. For a full list of participating countries, please consult Annex 2 of EUPAHW Call Announcement.

Each partner is funded by their respective national funding organisation.

Submission Conditions

Key submission requirements include:

• Proposals must be submitted as international consortium projects through the EUPAHW submission platform.
• Consortia must typically include at least three partners from three different participating countries.
• Applications follow a two-stage process:
  1. Pre-proposal submission
  2. Full proposal submission (by invitation).
• FNRS applicants must submit:
  • The international proposal, and
  • An administrative application through the FNRS e-space system within 5 working days after the international deadline using the PINT-MULTI instrument.
