EU-Canada Matchmaking Event in Montreal 2026 – Call for Expression of Interest – Clusters

Description

The European Commission, through the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP), is organising the EU–Canada Matchmaking Event in Montreal, Canada, from 15–17 September 2026 in the framework of the ALL IN event, Canada’s major AI and emerging technologies conference. The initiative aims to strengthen cooperation between European and Canadian cluster organisations, SMEs, research actors, and innovation stakeholders through matchmaking, networking, seminars, and site visits.

The event focuses on strategic sectors including:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Digital Technologies
  • Quantum Technologies
  • Defence and Security

Funding Amount

  • Maximum reimbursement per selected organisation: up to EUR 1,700
  • Eligible costs:
    • Economy-class return flight to Canada
    • Up to 3 hotel nights
  • Reimbursement is based on actual costs incurred and supporting invoices.
  • Only one representative per organisation is eligible for reimbursement.
  • Funded participation is available for up to 20 cluster representatives.

Submission Deadlines

Expressions of interest must be submitted through EUSurvey by:

  • First cut-off: 5 June 2026, 23:59 Brussels time
  • Second cut-off: 26 June 2026, 23:59 Brussels time (only if places remain)
  • Third cut-off: 10 July 2026, 23:59 Brussels time (only if places remain)
  • Late applications may be accepted until 4 September 2026 at participants’ own expense.

Submission Conditions

Applicants must submit:

  • A completed EUSurvey questionnaire
  • Proof of ECCP registration and completed ECCP cluster profile
  • Full and up-to-date organisational information.

Selected organisations must:

  • Attend preparatory and technical webinars
  • Participate in seminars, matchmaking activities, site visits, and debriefings
  • Conduct at least five bilateral meetings
  • Complete post-event surveys and follow-up questionnaires.

Eligible Types of Businesses / Organisations

Eligible applicants include:

  • Cluster organisations
  • Business network organisations
  • Innovation clusters supporting SMEs.

Eligible Countries

Applicants must be legal entities established in:

  • EU Member States
  • Non-EU countries participating in the Single Market Programme (SMP)/COSME Strand.

Expected Outcome

Expected outcomes include:

  • Stronger EU–Canada cluster cooperation
  • New international partnerships and business connections
  • Increased visibility of European clusters within the Canadian innovation ecosystem
  • Identification of joint RDI opportunities
  • Enhanced academia-industry collaboration
  • Development of collaboration cases and long-term partnerships following the event.

Scope

The call seeks expressions of interest from European cluster organisations and business network organisations interested in establishing or strengthening cooperation with Canadian counterparts. Activities include:

  • Cluster-to-Cluster (C2C) collaboration
  • Cluster-to-Business (C2B) collaboration
  • Business-to-Business (B2B) matchmaking
  • Research, development and innovation (RDI) cooperation
  • Participation in seminars, site visits, pitching sessions, matchmaking meetings, and networking activities.
