RESIST II Process Innovation Open Call

Description

The RESIST II Process Innovation Open Call is part of the RESIST Eurocluster initiative, which supports SMEs in the Mobility, Transport and Automotive (MTA) ecosystem to strengthen their green, digital, and resilient transition. The programme is funded under the Single Market Programme (SMP/COSME).

The call specifically supports SMEs aiming to:

  • improve manufacturing and industrial processes,
  • increase operational efficiency,
  • adopt greener and more digital production systems,
  • enhance resilience and sustainability of industrial operations.

Projects are expected to contribute to:

  • net-zero manufacturing,
  • critical raw materials efficiency,
  • industrial digitalisation,
  • resilient European mobility value chains.

Funding Amount

Funding per Project

  • Individual Projects: Up to €20,000 per SME/project.
  • Collaborative Projects: Up to €30,000 per SME participating in a consortium.
  • Maximum Consortium Funding: Up to €90,000 total for a consortium of 3 SMEs.

Funding Rate

  • 90% co-financing rate
  • Minimum 10% own contribution required from beneficiaries.

Payment Conditions

  • Lump-sum payments in instalments:
    • 20% at project start,
    • 40% after mid-term reporting,
    • 30% after final report approval,
    • 10% after participation in showcase/dissemination activities.

Submission Deadlines

  • First Cut-off
    • Opening date: 13 May 2026
    • Deadline: 13 July 2026 at 17:00 CEST / Brussels time.
  • Second Cut-off: Planned launch: May 2027.
  • Project Duration
    • Maximum duration: 9 months
    • First selected projects expected to run October 2026 – June 2027.

Submission Conditions

Applications must:

  • be submitted electronically through the RESIST submission platform,
  • include:
    • application form,
    • resilience check,
    • declaration of honour.

Evaluation process:

  1. Eligibility and admissibility check
  2. Evaluation by at least 3 independent experts
  3. Validation by RESIST consortium partners.

Additional conditions:

  • English is the official submission language,
  • projects must contribute to RESIST innovation pillars,
  • consortium partners must come from different NUTS2 regions,
  • projects may be submitted individually or collaboratively,
  • consortium size: 2–3 SMEs.

Eligible Types of Businesses

Primary eligible applicants:

  • Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)
  • Start-ups
  • Very Small Businesses (VSBs) operating in the MTA ecosystem.

Relevant sectors include:

  • automotive,
  • mobility,
  • transport,
  • rail,
  • cycling,
  • waterborne mobility,
  • industrial manufacturing,
  • mobility supply chains.

Non-SMEs may participate indirectly:

  • as technology providers,
  • experts,
  • service providers,
  • members of the RESIST Pool of Experts,
    but are not direct funding beneficiaries.

Eligible Countries

Applicants must be established in:

  • EU Member States,
  • countries associated with the Single Market Programme (SMP/COSME strand).

Expected Outcome

The programme aims to:

  • accelerate green and digital transformation in mobility industries,
  • improve resilience of European industrial value chains,
  • increase sustainability and operational efficiency,
  • support adoption of net-zero and advanced industrial technologies,
  • strengthen SME competitiveness and preparedness.

Expected project-level outcomes include:

  • measurable industrial improvements,
  • lower environmental impact,
  • more resilient production systems,
  • increased digitalisation,
  • enhanced resource efficiency,
  • deployment-ready industrial innovations.

Selected SMEs also receive:

  • technical support,
  • coaching and mentoring,
  • access to experts,
  • training activities,
  • networking and internationalisation opportunities.

Scope

The call funds process innovation projects focused on redefining or improving industrial/manufacturing operations within the MTA ecosystem.

Eligible activities include:

  • optimisation of manufacturing processes,
  • operational efficiency improvements,
  • integration of new industrial methods or systems,
  • industrial digitalisation,
  • sustainability improvements,
  • resource efficiency,
  • adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies.

Projects should align with one or more of the following innovation pillars:

  1. Net-Zero Manufacturing & Industrial Decarbonisation
    • electrification of industrial heat,
    • renewable-powered production lines,
    • hydrogen-based processing,
    • energy-efficient machinery.
  2. Circular Critical Raw Materials & Resource Efficiency
    • battery recycling,
    • rare earth recovery,
    • industrial scrap valorisation,
    • composite recycling.
  3. Digital Mobility & Smart Industrial Systems
    • AI-based process optimisation,
    • digital twins,
    • smart resource monitoring,
    • predictive systems.
  4. Resilient Mobility Value Chains
    • flexible manufacturing systems,
    • supply-chain resilience tools,
    • localised production networks.

The ecosystem scope includes:

  • automotive,
  • rail,
  • waterborne transport,
  • cycling,
  • related mobility value chains.
