The invention pertains to a device designed for treating complex areas of human or animal skin, as well as plant surfaces, using cold atmospheric-pressure plasma. Central to this device is a gas-permeable electrode arrangement that generates a dielectrically impeded surface discharge. The grounded electrode is made of electrically conductive textile material, while the high-voltage electrode is a thin wire or conductive thread encased in a specific insulating layer. This configuration enables the generation of a flat plasma near diseased skin or wounds, facilitating treatment with minimal thermal and electrical stress. The flexible, gas-permeable textile structure allows for adaptation to variously curved surfaces and permits gas exchange with the environment or the targeted delivery of specific process gas mixtures into the active plasma zone.

Wichtigste Patentansprüche:
- Device for treating areas of human, animal, or plant surfaces, particularly skin or mucosal areas, using a cold atmospheric pressure plasma by generating a dielectric barrier surface discharge. The device comprises at least one high-voltage cable, at least one ground cable, at least one plasma source, at least one gas supply, at least one grounded electrode, and at least one high-voltage electrode. It is characterized in that the high-voltage electrode consists of a flexible wire or electrically conductive thread, which is coated with a stretchable insulation layer and serves as the dielectric for the dielectric barrier discharge to be generated. This discharge simultaneously conforms to the contours of the body areas or surfaces to be treated and has a dielectric strength of at least 2 kV.
- Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the insulation layer for the high-voltage electrode consists of silicone, fluoropolymers, or aramids, preferably polyimides, which encase the flexible electrodes equidistantly.
- Device according to claim 2, characterized in that aromatic polyimides, preferably poly(4,4′-oxydiphenylene-pyromellitimide), are used.
- Device according to claim 3, characterized in that the aromatic polyimide contains inorganic fillers.
- Device according to claim 3, characterized in that Kapton®-CR is used as the insulation layer.
