37th IraSME Call for Proposals: Belgium, Wallonia

Description

This is the 37th Call for Proposals under the IraSME (International Research Activities by SMEs) network, supporting transnational R&D and innovation projects involving partners from Wallonia (Belgium) and other participating countries/regions. Funding is provided through national/regional programmes — in Wallonia via Service Public de Wallonie (SPW) — with the aim of strengthening international collaboration, technological development and competitiveness of SMEs.

Funding Amount

Regional Funding Conditions:

  • Eligible costs: personnel, overhead, equipment, subcontracting costs.
  • Funding rates:
    • SMEs: 60 – 75%
    • Large companies: 40%
    • Research centres/institutions: 75 – 100%
  • Minimum Walloon involvement: At least 40 % of the Walloon project budget must be attributed to Walloon companies.
  • Project duration: Up to 3 years.

Submission Deadlines

  • Call open: 1 December 2025

  • International submission deadline: 25 March 2026.

 Submission Conditions

  • A joint transnational proposal must be submitted through the IraSME network, including the coordinated application form in English sent by e‑mail upon request.
  • At the same time, the Walloon partner must submit a regional application via SPW’s system (e.g., ONTIME platform).
  • Applicants must meet all national/regional eligibility criteria and funding requirements.
  • Optional preliminary project outline may be submitted in advance for non‑binding feedback (for German partners via ZIM); similar early consultation with SPW may be advisable for Walloon participants.

Eligible Types of Businesses / Organisations

  • Small & Medium‑Sized Enterprises (SMEs) — principal target group.
  • Large companies — eligible but with lower funding rates.
  • Research institutions / universities / approved research centres — eligible and funded at higher rates.
  • Consortia participation: Must include at least one Walloon company and partners from at least one other participating country/region.

Eligible Countries (37th Call)

Participating countries/regions include:

  • Brazil
  • Germany
  • Czech Republic
  • Luxembourg
  • Türkiye
  • Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia)

Partners from non-participating countries may join but must self-finance their participation.

Expected Outcome

  • Development of innovative products, processes or technical services with clear market or commercial potential.
  • Enhanced competitiveness and technological capabilities for participating SMEs, with added value from international cooperation.
  • Strengthened R&D partnerships between Wallonia and other IraSME members.

Scope

  • Transnational, collaborative R&D & innovation projects developing new or significantly improved products, processes, services or technologies that exceed the international state of the art.
  • Projects must include significant technical risk and R&D efforts leading at least to prototype level or equivalent.
  • A minimum consortium of companies from two participating countries/regions is required.
  • Open across all technology fields (bottom‑up approach).
