6th German-Swedish Call for Proposals for joint R&D projects by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

Description

  • The call promotes collaborative R&D projects between German and Swedish companies and research institutions aiming at the development of new innovative products, technical services, or processes.

Funding Amount

    • Sweden (Vinnova): Grants to Swedish SMEs according to Vinnova's funding rules.

  • Applicants should consult the national funding conditions for details on maximum rates and eligible costs.

Submission Conditions

  • The project consortium must consist of at least one German SME and one Swedish SME. Only joint projects between German and Swedish partners are eligible.

  • Additional partners such as research organizations or larger companies may participate but the SMEs must take the lead and be the primary recipients of funding.

  • Joint proposals must be coordinated and submitted independently in both countries according to their respective agency procedures:

  • Both agencies evaluate and approve funding independently.

  • Approval by one agency does not guarantee funding from the other.

  • Projects must start within a reasonable timeframe after approval (usually within 6 months).

Submission Deadline

  • Deadline for submission of joint project proposals: 18 September 2025, 14:00 CET (Central European Time).

  • Proposals must be submitted simultaneously to both funding agencies

Expected Outcome

  • Development of market-ready or near-market innovative solutions (products, processes, or services) that clearly improve upon existing technologies.

  • The results should be able to be commercialized in the short to medium term (after project completion).

  • Joint exploitation of project results by participating companies.

  • Projects should have a well-defined business plan or commercialization strategy included in the application.
