This call aims to accelerate the transformation of the automotive industry towards a circular economy model. It seeks proposals that foster a widespread understanding of circular economic principles across the entire life-cycle value chain of road transport. The objective is to enhance Europe's resource sovereignty, reduce environmental footprint, and strengthen competitiveness by promoting reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling of vehicle components and materials. Proposals should focus on end-of-life strategies, identify stakeholders, map ongoing projects, and design strong engagement processes. Additionally, they should support the implementation of AI-based tools for material loops, assess economic and societal impacts, and conceptualize a European Pilot Project "Recycling Factory of the Future." The development of product passports and digital twins is also encouraged to optimize the circularity of automotive components.
Opening Date: 06 May 2025
Deadline: 04 September 2025
Expected Outcome
Projects are expected to support widespread understanding of circular economy principles, increase Europe's resource sovereignty, lower environmental footprint, strengthen competitiveness of the automotive value chain, support the definition of requirements for a European circular economy ecosystem, increase development and adoption of product passports and digital twins, and develop a roadmap for European Pilot Projects driving industrial transformation towards circularity.
Scope
Proposals should focus on end-of-life strategies by identifying stakeholders and implementing measures for their involvement, analyzing the life-cycle value chain to identify bottlenecks, supporting AI-based tools for material loops, assessing economic, environmental, and societal impacts, conceptualizing a European Pilot Project "Recycling Factory of the Future," and developing product passports and digital twins.
