This call, under the Horizon Europe programme's Cluster 3, aims to enhance the innovation capacity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the civil security domain. SMEs play a vital role in the EU economy, often bringing forward innovative solutions to societal challenges, including security. However, they face barriers such as red tape, limited access to public markets, and industrial competition.
The objectives of the call include fostering collaboration between SMEs across Member States, addressing EU security priorities, and involving end-users to validate and adopt the innovations. Specific areas of focus include fighting organised crime and terrorism, disaster resilience, resilient infrastructure, and border management. Consortia must include 3-7 partners, with at least two SMEs from different Member States, and allocate 50% of their budget to SMEs.
Projects should achieve Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 6-8 and adhere to a lump sum funding model. Key activities include market analysis, innovation management, intellectual property guidance, and facilitating market access for SMEs.
