Description

This is a joint Sweden-Brazil funding call for R&D projects under the Eureka Network “Network Projects” label. The purpose is to support international research & innovation collaborations between Swedish and Brazilian organisations in the fields of sustainable mining, bioeconomy or sustainable cities. Projects should aim to develop an innovative product, process or service with commercial potential.

Funding Amount

• For the Swedish side (Vinnova): Maximum grant per project SEK 5,500,000 (approx €500,000) for Sweden participants.
• Funding rates for Swedish participants:
  • SMEs: up to 60%;
  • Large companies: up to 40%;
  • Universities/research institutes: up to 100% of eligible costs.
• For the Swedish side total budget: Approximately EUR 2,190,000 (Swedish budget) for the call.
• For the Brazilian side: Via FINEP and EMBRAPII: FINEP maximum funding R$ 5,000,000 for large companies (various ceilings depending on company size) for eligible Brazilian participants.

Important Dates

• Call opens: 29 September 2025.
• Deadline for the national Swedish application: 6 February 2026 at 14:00 CET (2 pm).
• Decision: By 30 September 2026 for Swedish side.
• Project latest start: Around 1 October 2026 for projects

Submission Conditions

• Project consortium must include at least one Swedish legal entity (company) and one Brazilian company. A company must lead the project. Universities/research institutes may participate as partners.
• Swedish applicant must be a legal entity in Sweden. Costs must be incurred by that entity. State-aid rules apply (GBER Article 25) for Swedish economic actors.
• For Brazilian side: Companies of any size may apply; certain eligibility criteria apply (registration, prior activity, corporate purpose) for Brazilian companies.
• The international application must follow Eureka Network eligibility rules: at least two independent legal entities from at least two participating countries; no single organisation or country may be responsible for more than 70% of the project budget.
• Swedish participants must apply to Vinnova’s national portal and include the full Eureka application (partner forms, budget, Gantt, CV of coordinator).
• A consortium agreement must be signed before first status report (Swedish side) and partner forms submitted.

Eligible Applicants

• Sweden: Applicant must be a company (registered in Sweden) as project coordinator. Research organisations/universities may act as partners in Sweden.
• Sweden: Project partners can include Swedish companies (SMEs, large), universities, research institutes.
• Brazil: Brazilian companies (of any size) are eligible; universities/research institutes may participate; an EMBRAPII Unit may partner on Brazilian side.
