Digitally enabled local-for-local textile and apparel production

This funding call focuses on advancing the European textile and apparel industry's capability to adopt digitally enabled local-for-local production models. It addresses the challenges of offshoring production, which has resulted in slower innovation, longer supply chains, and environmental concerns due to overproduction and waste. The call promotes the use of advanced digital technologies across the textile lifecycle, from creation to end-of-life, and prioritizes innovative, sustainable, and socially responsible production methods.

Key objectives include demonstrating the economic viability of on-demand local production, fostering the adoption of digital manufacturing technologies by SMEs, and increasing the share of regionally produced, time-critical textile products. Proposals should demonstrate innovative solutions like seamless interoperable data flows, advanced manufacturing operations, and the valorization of local renewable materials. Projects are also encouraged to explore new service-driven business models that lower the total cost of ownership through high-quality, long-lasting products.

Funding supports small-scale demonstrations, experiments, or pilots in areas such as micro-manufacturing and the development of interoperable supply chain technologies. Proposals should include business cases, exploitation strategies, and financial support to SMEs. This call is part of the co-programmed European Partnership "Textiles for the Future" under Horizon Europe and aligns with sustainable policy frameworks like the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation.
