This national call (within the BMFTR framework announcement for DUT funding) targets the DUT Call 2025 and restricts German participation to the 15-minute City Transition Pathway (15mC TP). It funds applied R&D projects that research, develop and pilot methods, processes and solutions to improve accessibility and connectivity starting at the neighbourhood scale, thereby accelerating a shift to sustainable urban mobility. German applicants may submit pre-proposals and, if invited, full proposals under the transnational DUT Call 2025 exclusively to: 15mC Topic 1 – “Next steps for multimodal urban mobility, building on the travel experience.” Projects should deliver research-backed strategies that make sustainable urban transport more attractive and affordable for all, by integrating public transport (tram, train, bus, ferry) with active and shared mobility. Proposals may focus on demand sensing and user needs, on processes and policies that overcome adoption barriers, and/or on technological and social innovations enabling seamless mode shifts. Outputs are expected to be concrete, application-ready and user-centric (e.g., mobility hubs, digital tools, organisational arrangements, inclusive service designs) that work across diverse local contexts and city sizes. Co-creation is mandatory: solutions must be developed with residents—including vulnerable groups—local businesses and housing associations; real-world needs and experiences at the margins of society have to be captured honestly and fed into design iterations. Implemented solutions should increase place attractiveness, climate resilience and public realm quality. Funding conditions follow the DUT framework announcement: two-stage procedure aligned to DUT timelines (pre-proposals then full proposals), non-repayable grants for up to 36 months. For German applicants, the maximum funding is 350.000 Euro per organisation (minimum 100.000 Euro). If a German organisation coordinates the consortium, up to 400.000 Euro may be granted. Up to two German applicants may join a single transnational consortium, with a total German contribution capped at 500.000 Euro per consortium. German practice partners (e.g., municipalities, companies, civil society organisations) are explicitly welcomed as coordinating applicants, sub-project applicants or cooperation partners. Proposals must fit DUT Call 2025 rules (see Annex A) and the national framework rules. Evaluation emphasises scientific/technical quality, practical relevance, stakeholder engagement, feasibility, and clear impact pathways toward more equitable, multimodal urban mobility. Note: PED TP is funded by BMWE and CUE TP is currently not funded on the German side; this call is solely for 15mC TP.
