Description

This is an international R&D and innovation funding call under the EUREKA GlobalStars framework for projects involving Japan and at least one other participating country. The focus is on research and development of products, processes or services in the areas of 6G, connectivity, open high-performance programmable networks and Open RAN. The projects should be market-oriented (commercialisation or implementation of results) and civilian in purpose (non-defence).

Funding Amount

• For Swedish participants: maximum national funding per project via Vinnova is SEK 2.5 million.
• Funding rates for Swedish organisations:
  • SMEs: up to 50% of eligible costs;
  • Medium-sized companies: up to 40%;
  • Large companies: up to 30%;
  • Universities/research institutes: up to 100%.
• Duration: up to 36 months.
• No single organisation or country may account for more than 70% of the total project budget.

Submission Deadlines

• Call opens for Swedish application: 14 October 2025.
• Deadline for Swedish national application: 21 January 2026 at 14:00 CET.
• Project must start by 1 July 2026.
• Project must be completed by 30 June 2029 (maximum duration).
• Information meeting: 11 November 2025 at 09:00.

Eligible Types of Business

• Swedish companies of any size (SME, medium, large) may apply (with different funding rates).
• Swedish universities, research institutes, other non-profit research organisations may participate and receive up to 100% for their cost share (if non-economic actors).
• On the Japanese side: Japanese companies (SME or large) and possibly research organisations according to Japanese national funding agency rules. (From call text: Japanese side via NEDO).
• Additional partners from other participating countries may join.

Eligible Countries

• Mandatory: Japan + Sweden. Sweden as Swedish national applicant, Japan as partner.
• Additional eligible countries (partners) include: Austria, Belgium (Flanders), Canada, Denmark, France, Israel, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, United Kingdom.
