This call aims to advance comprehensive and interdisciplinary understanding of climate justice in the context of European and global mitigation and adaptation policies. The project seeks to address multiple dimensions of justice, exploring the role of social, political, economic, and cultural factors. The goal is to develop recommendations on designing, implementing, and evaluating just climate transitions, including specific indicators and criteria to better operationalize the justice concept in climate pathways.
Actions should enhance integrated assessment models to better represent justice and equity, analyze distributional effects of climate policies, investigate innovative policy instruments, and assess trade-offs and co-benefits between climate action and inequality reduction. The research should be conducted through close collaboration between European and Global South research teams, involving key stakeholders and regional experts to ensure all relevant perspectives are represented.
This topic is a Societal-Readiness pilot requiring effective contribution of social sciences and humanities expertise. International cooperation is required, and clustering activities with other relevant projects are encouraged to maximize synergies.
