Initial Fund Bremen

The Initial Fund Bremen is a financial support initiative designed to bolster innovative start-ups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the Bremen region. Managed by the BAB Beteiligungs- und Managementgesellschaft Bremen mbH (BBM), the program offers silent and open equity investments to enhance the capital base of young companies with sustainable and forward-thinking business models. The primary objective is to foster technology-oriented and innovative business foundations, thereby stimulating economic growth and competitiveness in Bremen.

Expected Outcome

The anticipated outcomes of the Initial Fund Bremen include:

  • Enhanced Innovation Capacity: Empowering Bremen's economy by supporting businesses in executing forward-thinking projects.

  • Improved Financial Stability: Strengthening the financial foundations of SMEs, enabling them to attract private investments and secure additional funding sources.

  • Job Creation and Preservation: Contributing to the generation and maintenance of employment opportunities within the region, thereby fostering economic stability and growth.

Maximum Funding Amount per Project

  • Silent Partnerships: Up to €750,000 per 12-month period, with a cumulative maximum of €1.2 million per company.

  • Open Partnerships: Up to €200,000 as a sole investor; up to €750,000 in collaboration with private investors.

Scope

The program targets:

  • Technology-Oriented and Innovative Start-Ups: Providing financial backing for new businesses developing cutting-edge technologies or unique solutions.

  • Strengthening Innovation in Existing SMEs: Assisting established small and medium-sized enterprises in implementing innovative projects to enhance their market position.

  • Supporting Growth and Business Succession: Facilitating expansion plans and ensuring smooth transitions during business successions to maintain continuity and promote growth.

Applicants are required to present a viable and sustainable business plan accompanied by a comprehensive financing strategy.
