IraSME Call: Wallonia (Belgium)

Description

This call enables transnational R&D partnerships for the benefit of Walloon SMEs, with optional collaboration from approved research centers in Wallonia or other participating countries. Wallonia participates in the IraSME 36th Call (June 2 – September 24, 2025), supporting innovation through bilateral cooperation.

Scope

  • Projects must focus on mastering innovative technologies or processes demanded by Walloon industry, leading to increased competitiveness
  • Activities may include outsourcing R&D to accredited Walloon research centers or centers in partner countries
  • Bottom-up with no thematic restrictions, but must involve meaningful collaboration between Walloon SMEs and international partners as defined in the IraSME guidelines

Funding Amount and Conditions

  • Support provided as grants or recoverable advances
  • Funding rates:
    • SMEs: 60-75%,
    • Large companies: 40%
    • Research institutions: 75%
    • Universities 100%
  • Eligible costs include personnel, overhead, equipment, subcontracting, management, and travel
  • Calls typically span 24 months for Walloon participation
  • At least 40% of the Walloon project costs must be accounted for by Walloon companies

Submission Deadline

  • IraSME Submission Deadline: 24 September 2025

Eligible Types of Participants

  • Walloon SMEs are mandatory lead applicants
  • Approved research centers in Wallonia or abroad can be included
  • Partners from other IraSME regions (SMEs and optionally RTOs) are also welcome, provided at least one Walloon SME is part of the consortium
  • Participating countries: Austria, Brazil, Czechia, Flanders (Belgium), Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Türkiye, and Wallonia (Belgium)
  • International partners outside these must provide their own funding.

Expected Outcome

  • Acquisition of technological competencies and enhanced know-how within Walloon SMEs through international collaboration
  • Deliverables include mastering new technology/process and applying it to improve competitiveness in local and export markets
