This call supports the implementation of the European Green Deal and the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. It aims to address the ongoing biodiversity crisis by enhancing understanding of biodiversity states, trends, and the drivers of its decline. Policymakers and sectors across society are to be equipped with high-quality data from large-scale in situ biodiversity observations. This includes assessing biodiversity states, mapping species, and evaluating policy impacts on biodiversity. Harmonized frameworks, comprehensive metadata, and FAIR-compliant data are essential. Projects must cooperate with related EU initiatives like the EC Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity and the EU Biodiversity Observation Coordination Centre.
