MANTRA Open Call for Manufacturing SMEs

The MANTRA Open Call aims to empower traditional manufacturing SMEs across Europe in their journey toward sustainable, digital, and innovative transformation. As part of the broader MANTRA initiative—focused on fostering Sustainable and Innovative Manufacturing—the call seeks to select 50 forward-thinking SMEs ready to pilot advanced technologies, test new solutions, and enhance competitiveness within an increasingly dynamic industrial landscape.

The programme provides manufacturing SMEs with access to a comprehensive support ecosystem designed to accelerate technological adoption and sustainability-driven change. Selected SMEs can receive up to €50,000 in financial support to implement cutting-edge technologies tailored to their operational needs. In addition, the initiative offers structured matchmaking with technology providers, industry experts, and strategic partners to co-design an actionable transformation roadmap.

Beyond financial support, participating SMEs gain access to capacity-building resources such as mentorship, peer-learning, targeted training sessions, and continuous engagement through the MANTRA Community Platform. This platform serves as a hub for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and visibility—helping SMEs build meaningful connections within the European manufacturing ecosystem.

The Open Call specifically addresses the challenges faced by traditional manufacturing sectors—such as machinery, food processing, metals, plastics, ceramics, and textiles—many of which struggle with sustainability integration, digital readiness, circularity, automation, or the strategic adoption of data-driven processes. MANTRA aims to guide SMEs step by step, ensuring that innovation and sustainability become practical, achievable goals.

To apply, SMEs must be legally established in an EU Member State, belong to one of the eligible manufacturing sectors, and submit their application in English via the MANTRA platform. The call opened on 16 June 2025, with submissions accepted until 15 September 2025. Successful applicants will begin a structured transformation journey supported by the MANTRA community, benefitting from financial aid, technological experimentation, expert support, and increased visibility.
