This call aims to improve customs and supply chain security through innovative solutions targeting the prevention, detection, and mitigation of illegal activities involving the flow of goods across EU external borders and supply chains. Projects under this call should address emerging challenges, propose creative and disruptive solutions, and enhance the capabilities of practitioners in customs and supply chain security. The call encourages the use of technologies and methods that ensure interoperability, minimize trade disruptions, and improve detection capabilities, particularly concerning dangerous, illicit, or illegal goods.
Applicants are required to focus on sustainability, environmental impact, cybersecurity, and human rights perspectives. Solutions proposed should incorporate inputs from various stakeholders, including citizens and civil society, and address operational autonomy, cost-efficiency, and energy efficiency. The integration of gender dimensions in research content is advised where relevant.
Key conditions include active involvement of at least two Customs Authorities from two different EU Member States or Associated Countries and mandatory financial support to third parties for piloting, testing, and validation activities. Projects are expected to achieve Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 6-7 by the end of the funding period.
